Laura Callaghan Art

World Ocean Day Art Exhibition

28 March 2024

🌊 This event promises to be an immersive exploration of the beauty and challenges facing our oceans, brought to life through the evocative power of visual art.

Join me at The Crypt in Seaford, East Sussex, from Saturday, June 8th to Sunday, June 16th, 2024, as we come together to celebrate World Ocean Day. 🎨 The exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 4.30pm, offering ample opportunities to immerse yourself in the captivating artworks on display.

Through a diverse range of artistic expressions, "She and the Sea" aims to foster a deeper understanding of the vital role our oceans play in shaping our world. As a Brighton-based mixed-media seascape ecofeminist artist, I am deeply passionate about using art as a tool for environmental advocacy, and this exhibition is a culmination of that commitment.

In addition to my own artwork, the exhibition will feature curated works from esteemed regional artists Jenny Morrish, Lucy Morrison, and Claudia Weatherley, each bringing their unique perspectives to the theme. We are also honoured to showcase artworks from talented students of BHASVIC college and Downs View Life Skills College, adding a fresh and dynamic dimension to the exhibition.

One of the highlights of the event will be a very special talk by @sussexunderwater on Friday, June 14th, at 7pm. This promises to be an enlightening and thought-provoking discussion on the importance of ocean conservation.

I invite you to mark your calendar and join us for this celebration of art and the sea. Stay tuned for further updates on the incredible artists involved, and be sure to follow them on Instagram using their handles: @laura_callaghan_creativity, @jennymorrish.ceramics, @lucymorrison.art, & @claudiamadethis.

See you at "She and the Sea"! 🎨🌊
