As an artist educator, my work is driven by two profound passions: the joy of art-making and the urgent need for environmental protection. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse communities, inspiring creativity, and fostering a deeper connection to our planet through art.

Art as a Universal Language

Art is a universal language that transcends age, ability, and background. It has the power to bring people together, spark dialogue, and inspire change. Everyone should have the opportunity to engage with art. This belief has guided many projects I am involved with now, or those I have worked on as an arts freelancer too.

Art and Environmental Stewardship

My passion for environmental protection is woven into my work. I believe that art can be a powerful tool for raising awareness and inspiring action. For instance, at the Saltdean Climate Action Network, I led a project where participants of all ages created butterfly art using recycled materials. This initiative not only promoted creativity but also emphasized the importance of sustainability and to be excited about local flora and fauna, and to protect our local biodiversity.

Sensory Engagement and Inclusivity

Working with Downs View Life Skills College in Brighton was a testament to the inclusive potential of art. Engaging students with profound and complex needs, I brought sensory items from the beach, connecting art-making to environmental themes. This hands-on approach resonated deeply with the students, culminating in a collaborative exhibition that showcased their talents and celebrated their achievements.

Festival Engagements

My work with Mogstock Festival in the Surrey Downs was another opportunity to merge art and environmental education. Designing interactive projects like the "Elements" painting panels and a land art mandala, I created inclusive activities that encouraged festival-goers to reflect on their relationship with nature and their role in protecting it.

Inspiring the Next Generation

At its core, my work aims to inspire the next generation to see art not just as a form of expression, but as a means of making a difference. Whether through intergenerational music projects, sensory art workshops, or environmental art initiatives, I strive to create experiences that are meaningful, inclusive, and impactful.

Looking Ahead

As I continue my journey as an artist educator, I remain committed to these twin passions. By passing on the joy of art-making and emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship, I hope to inspire others to create, connect, and care for our world.
