We Found Ourselves Here
£750.00
Found on the Seaford shoreline during my ‘She & the Sea’ art exhibition for World Ocean Day 2024, this discarded flipper / fin once belonged to someone who moved through water... perhaps diving, swimming, or snorkelling.
Now, it’s been reshaped into a layered seascape: textured and, in a way, quietly unsettling.
The artwork reflects the complex relationship between humans and the ocean, both intimacy and impact. It asks us to consider the marks we leave behind, intentionally or not.
The piece emerged alongside ‘My Sea Bed’ at my 2024 show, a collective installation built from beach-clean debris contributed by the community. Just as the sea collects what we discard, ‘We Found Ourselves Here’ collects memory, movement, and material: what was lost, what was found.
