Plastic Sea: Telscombe, East Sussex
£250.00
My daily dog walks on the East Sussex beaches often reveal shoreline treasures, especially at low tide after storms or spring tides. Amongst the seaweeds and shells, I find discarded fishing nets and plastic fragments, sometimes from faraway places. Seeing the overwhelming plastic pollution, I decided to repurpose these materials into my art, creating 'Plastic Seas' to reflect the potential future of our oceans if we don't change our behaviours. 60-90% of marine litter is made of plastic items which could take hundreds of years to break up. My goal is to turn these marine plastics into painted sea vignettes, blending beauty with a powerful message of hope and urgency. Through this process, I aim to inspire love and protection for our oceans, showcasing the potential for positive transformation despite environmental challenges.
